BARKSKIN
BARKSKIN
Syntax: barkskin <ginkgo|mangrove|oak|pine|sequoia>
Through their affinity toward forests and nature, rangers can cover their
own skins with a layer of protective bark. The barks of different trees
gives the ranger different defensive benefits. The options are:
GINKGO: RESIST FIRE. An exotic tree found in the easternmost reaches of
Serin, ginkgo trees secrete a resin in their bark and leaves that make
them resistant to being burned.
MANGROVE: RESIST DROWNING. Growing around and within water itself,
mangroves are a permanent fixture in Serin's rivers and coastal estuaries.
OAK: ARMOR BOOST. An enduring symbol of nature, oak trees are tough,
hardy, and continue to resist the continuous encroachment of Serin's cities.
PINE: RESIST ICE. Often found in Serin's cold northern climes, pine trees
thrive year-round and can endure even the harshest winters.
SEQUOIA: RESIST LIGHTNING. Massively tall and ancient, sequoias attract and
withstand lightning strikes that would otherwise destroy lesser trees.
Note that all types of barkskin provide additional reduction to cold
damage, though pine is the most effective for this use.
Using the barkskin skill without specifying which tree type will invoke the
bark of oaks, for they are the most common trees in Serin. For all types of
bark, the defensive benefits of barkskin increases with the ranger's level.
Only one type of barkskin can affect a ranger at the same time.
