'CUSTOM RACE', 'CUSTOMIZED RACE'
Players who wish to try a unique roleplay experience may apply for a CUSTOM
RACE. The character's original race must have a similar phenotype to the
custom race you wish to portray, e.g. a gnome thief becoming a goblin, or a
drow becoming a similar thing. These are meant to enhance your roleplay
experience, and thus we will expect a custom race character to exhibit good
roleplay. Please note that a custom race must be of a mob that exists in
the game at the very least - harpies, goblins, trolls are in the realms,
mephits and tieflings while from a similar setting are NOT in the realms and
not eligible for customization.
You must write a note to Immortal with a superb description and at least one
well-written entry in your character's history before your request will be
reviewed. Requests may be denied at the immortals' discretion. A helpfile
must be created for the customized race if they choose to accept it into the
realms's canon.
Your original race will thereafter be masked on WHO and SCORE, but others
will be able to see your original race (and assess vulns) using WHOIS.
Please note that characters must be verified with forum account to be
eligible for custom race. (See help on
VERIFY for more info).
A few custom races are built into creation:
Harpy : bloodthirsty matriarchs, half man and half bird (Female only)
Ettin : evil, two-headed giants. Each head contains its own personality
Orc : mutated elves, inbred far past recognition. Strong and cunning but rather stupid
Ogre : dim-witted giants with a strong sense of tribal community
Drider : half-drow, half-spider outcasts from the Unlit City
Cyclops : one-eyed creatures who favor the wilderness. Usually hungry
Gargoyle : a rare breed of demon with exceptional patience and tough skin
Spriggan : mischievous fey creatures who take on the appearance of the forest where they are
Lamia : human-snake hybrids who bridge the realms of Serin and Acadia (Female only)
Goblin : small and cunning but very cowardly and prone to seeking protection in numbers
Choosing one in creation requires a reputable account and a completed background
is expected.
