The God of Blood's prayer.
"May the streets be painted blessed crimson. May the vessels that carry
blood to the brain be closed. May bones be unnaturally warped on a fulcrum
of pain."
Lord Davairus was captured by the Legion in his youth, and forced to study
among the guild of dark-knights. He eventually left the guild a master of
its darkest arts, leaving only carnage and torn corpses of his massacred former
teachers. For years, he walked in solitude. He had no cares, no woman, and
no friend. He partook in endless battles against his nemesis Zylenier, the
Mirror of Death. His hatred for his captors, the Legion, enticed him to
challenge Darkhan of his authority. Battling for his own sanity, Davairus
began to forge his own reality from his surroundings. Men began to bend to
his will, forming a new and corrupted order - a Tyranny so subtle, yet so
absolute, that none noticed its existence. His grudges elapsed, revenge no
longer an interest, but Davairus remained consumed by conflict, driven by an
instinctive thirst for violence that could no longer settle.
Finally, after years of incomparable suffering unrelieved, Lodur granted
him a chance to be freed from pain. With his favoured spear, gorged in the
blood of his enemies, he crushed his own skull. The lifeless body of
Davairus rose again and gained new power as the Lord of Blood.
Just like their namesake, followers of Davairus can be expected to kill.
However, it is not done for revenge or to cause pain. Rather this is how
they worship their god. Both slaughter and honor are equally valued by
Davairus, so that both a mindless killer and a honorable champion can be
followers. Favored offerings include cowards and those who are motivated
to kill only for pleasure (including to cause suffering), as well as those
who will prove challenging to beat, while the weak and feeble are not a
worthy sacrifice for the God of Blood. Preferred weapons are bladed axes,
two-handed swords and large spears to ensure quick kills and heavy bloodshed.
Each time blood is spilled in worship of the God of Blood, more power flows
to Davairus. Kills that worship the Blood God are therefore likely to incur
the wrath of his rivals upon their own followers. Cowards beware.
The temple of Davairus is the battlefield, its altar resting within Tyr Unguld.
