'MISTY MIRAGE'
Syntax: cast 'misty mirage'
Syntax: chant 'misty mirage'
One of the more theatrical tools in the illusionists' and druids' arsenal is
the mirage spell, using fog to take advantage of primal fear. This is a very
powerful trickery-based spell with a myriad of useful affects.
Once the spell is cast, a purple fog permeates the room, spreading gradually
to everywhere in a close range to the illusionist (i.e. minimap radius). As
the illusionist moves, more fog is generated where they walk. The fog can be
seen on the minimap as each room will become a vivid purple, and indeed the
minimap will broadcast this change so that anyone observant can see a fog is
approaching them. The fog disperses after a couple hours if the illusionist
is no longer present or nearby, or is washed away by a storm (hot reboot),
or is dispelled via the cleanse room spell.
Here are affects to be mindful of when being inside the illusionary fog:
* the fog reduces the brightness of a room so that it may be difficult
to see if there is not a strong enough light source present.
* Many illusionist spells are more potent if they successfully deceive, and
the phobia of fog raises fears, making it a bit easier to deceive.
* fog greatly improves the ability of duplicates to overwhelm enemy defenses
* fog also improves the manuverability of the psionic dragon spell
Other classes that depend on the cover of night may use the effects of this
spell to their advantage, so be mindful of your opponent's potential comfort
with being in the fog. They may be able to leverage it against you.
