REND LIFE
'REND LIFE'
Syntax: cast 'rend life' <target> (short syntax: relf)
Special: must be wielding weapon from REAPING BLADE spell
Spell type: UNIQUE
Dependency: none
The rend life spell extends the use of a weapon conjured by the REAPING BLADE
spell. Using rend life, the necromancer can use his weapon to strike at the
very life force of his victim. The power of the equipped reaper's weapon and
the DAMROLL of the necromancer determines how effective he will be at rending
his victim's life. Casting the spell will also cause harm to the necromancer,
for its deadly potence is entwined with the necromancer's own life force.
However, the necromancer is granted a minor damage reduction after casting for
two combat rounds.
Slaying a sufficiently powerful target using the rend life spell allows the
necromancer to tear out health, mana, and stamina for himself. How much
power the necromancer regains in this fashion is determined by how strong
the victim was in life. Weak victims do not provide any gains in death.
There is no save against the damage from rend life, and its power grows with
both a necromancer's ranks and his equipment. At the apex of its power, rend
life is potentially the strongest damage spell available to necromancers.
The damage dealt by this spell cannot be shielded by an invoker's MANA SHIELD
or BARRIER spells.
* Undead targets (both player and creature) are immune to rend life.
