SHADOWMELD
'SHADOWMELD'
Syntax: automatic
It is said that among the drow, the final test for shadows is to pass
through a maze of obstacles while remaining hidden at all times, with their
masters delivering death to any student seen in plain sight. While this
story cannot be verified, it also cannot be denied that the drows seem
to adhere to the shadows beyond the skill of even other shadows, making it
extremely difficult to track drow shadows in cities. Most observers cannot
see them at a distance (as per the "where" and "scan" commands) even when the
drow is not actively hiding, so long the drow is situated where it is
possible to hide and remains standing without being outlined by faerie
magic. More wise observers can often manage to see through this shadowmeld
technique, as can extremely experienced adventurers. Anyone trained in
detecting the hidden cannot be fooled by shadowmeld.
Note that while the shadowmeld legacy reduces the chances of being spotted
at a distance, a drow shadow needs to actually be hiding to avoid being seen
if the other person is in the same room.
Intelligence decreases the chance of an outside observer seeing through
one's shadowmeld.
