SPELLBANE
'SPELLBANE'
Syntax: AUTOMATIC
Legend has it that the elven stronghold of Greginsham was attacked many times
in its long history before its final destruction during the Great War. For
one such attack led by a dreadful but unnamed lich-lord, tales tell of the
archmage Faedran turning the tide of battle by empowering the city's warriors
to resist the terrible magicks of the overpowering attackers. Though he
himself ultimately perished from his effort in saving Greginsham, Faedran's
sacrifice has lived on as the Spellbane legacy. Warriors of elven heritage
may use this legacy to attempt to completely reverse targeted spells, thereby
inflicting damage upon the caster instead. Because of the nature of Faedran's
original sacrifice, however, the Spellbane legacy is only effective against
spells cast by those of higher level than the defender.
A spellcaster's SAVEBREAK in the type of spell being cast can lower or even
completely nullify the effectiveness of Spellbane.
Intelligence and wisdom increases the chances of a spell reversal from Spellbane.
