'SILVER SPIDER' Syntax: pain, strikeofpain Among the many torture implements of the drow, the Silver Spider holds a special place of terror among those who have tasted its embrace. Designed to replace the shackle as a means of confining a prisoner, the intricate Spider grasps the victim atop his head while using its barbed legs to pierce his eyeballs and rupture his eardrums. In the hands of a skilled torturer, the vicelike grip of the Silver Spider can be used to prevent escape without killing the victim outright, and its silver touch is designed to cause madness-inducing pain to its drow prey. Practice with torture has taught drow dark-knights how to inflict this device's effects with their own STRIKE OF PAIN, allowing them to replace both the pillory strike and the vice strike with a single Silver Spider strike. To prevent diluting its terror through overuse, however, the Silver Spider is reserved for the most difficult of victims to break, and drow dark-knights will only afflict the strike upon victims more powerful in levels than themselves.
