'VOID-ELF' Centuries ago, a celestial anomaly, a tear in the very fabric of reality, bathed the city of Illisidar in its otherworldly energies. Most lifeforms perished instantly, consumed by the raw chaos. The elves were more resilient, but irrevocably changed, imbued with an unsettling connection to the void. These elves lived to see the lich king, Xanthak, revive the entire city into the army of mindless servants that are known as the undead. The Void elves retain their elven grace and longevity, yet bear several unmistakable mutations. Their eyes shimmer with an unsettling inner light, and ethereal veins trace constellations across their skin. They possess an inherent understanding of cosmic energies, granting them an edge in arcane arts and a sensitivity to the unseen. However, this connection comes at a price. They are haunted by whispers from the void, maddening visions, and an insatiable hunger for knowledge that can lead them down dangerous paths. Feared and ostracized by their brethren, the Void elves were forced to carve a new path. They formed secluded settlements on the furthest fringes of Illisadar, and founded an order dedicated to the omniscient god of the void, Yog-Sothoth. While there were those that sought a cure, some embraced this new connection, becoming void rangers, forever vigilant against the threats lurking beyond the veil. These rangers walk the line between wielding the void's power for good and succumbing to its corrupting influence - their neutrality ensuring they avoid entanglements that could jeopardize their mind's fragile balance, as well as risk another breach of the veil. Every Void elf walks a razor's edge. Each spell cast, each ability employed, fuels the whispers and risks amplifying the void's influence. They seek not to conquer or destroy, but to understand and maintain a fragile equilibrium.
