'CURSE'
Syntax: cast 'curse' <target> (short syntax curs)
Spell type: MALEDICTIVE
The curse spell draws upon negative energies to mark its sufferer as unclean
and forsaken by the gods. It causes the victim to lose focus, leading to
decreased combat effectiveness (reduced accuracy and worse saves against
hostile magic). Cursed combatants also lose tactical awareness - all combat
information appears clouded and obscured. The curse prevents using word of
recall, wilderness recall, and ectoplasmic door, and blocks entry through
magical gates, portals, and vortexes. A sufficiently strong recall spell
(level 9+ above the curse level) can overcome the curse's block. The curse
can be removed by
REMOVE CURSE. Shamans, healers, necromancers, vampires,
and dark-knights learn this spell. Note that cursed NPCs experience
CONFUSION, making them significantly easier to strike and more vulnerable
to spells.
