'MERCENARY'
Mercenaries are available for hire from select locations in the realms, for
a premium. They come as their advertised rank and the service they provide
is strictly temporary. When you hire a mercenary, their contract with you
will be valid for approximately two hours. After the initial two hours, the
mercenary will cease to assist you in battle until you pay them more gold.
You will be notified when their contract has expired, and each subsequent
payment buys you two more hours of them assisting you in battle. A
mercenary will never assist you with attacking guild guardians, even if they
are fully paid up.
Being humanoid allows mercenaries to wear some equipment as well. These
mercenaries may wear a helm, torso, weapon, light, shield and quiver. The
mercenary will also persist over QUIT and reboots, as will their items.
Note that mercenaries are sell-swords, in business for themselves to
make some money. They do not accept too much personal risk, and will
not stand in front of the group in battle. So be sure to keep your
mercenary shielded well from any danger.
At higher levels, the Seringale guildhalls trainee will become available
for hire, as well as cabal supply stores also offer a mercenary for the
members to use. These mercenaries do not assist in PK'ing.
The Heraldic minstrel is a notable mercenary as it has the unique
ability to heal the party periodically. This bard mercenary is available
from Adanion in Seringale.
You can also RELEASE MERCENARY to remove him from your group entirely.
