'STRENGTH'
Strength represents a character's raw physical power and muscle mass.
It is the primary offensive stat for melee fighters. Here is a list of
some of the things that strength governs:
* carrying capacity - determined by both strength and level
* weapon/shield requirements - determines maximum weight that can be
wielded. Two-handed weapons require 50% more strength to wield.
* melee damage - bonus to damroll from strength, scaling with level,
increased by 50% for two-handed weapons. Note: your chance TO HIT in
melee is governed by Dexterity, not Strength.
* parry / dual-parry : the primary defensive stat. The difference in
strength between attacker and defender shifts the parry odds.
* hobble - increased duration and quicker recovery (shared with constitution)
* Skills: Often contributes to the damage done by skills (e.g. kick,
charge), the duration of stuns caused by brute force skills (e.g. bash,
bodyslam), chance to bash successfully, chance to throw via comparing
difference of your strength and theirs. As a rule if you need to "put
your weight into it" - that is a strength skill.
Racial maximums vary significantly. Fire Giants can reach STR 25
(the highest possible), while Quasits are capped at 16. Giants,
Minotaurs, and similar large races have the highest natural Strength
ceilings, while Elves, Drow, and Halflings have lower caps.
