DODGE

'DODGE' Syntax: AUTOMATIC The safest way to escape harm is to get out of its way. The ability to dodge improves the character's natural agility to the point where many blows will miss their target completely, and is more effective than shield blocking. Dodge's governing attribute is DEXTERITY. All pure, non-hybrid fighter and rogue classes learn to dodge. Thieves, shadows, and bards are particularly skillful at dodging with their counterbalance ability. Warriors, berserkers and rangers can use combat styles in conjunction with concentration to help bypass their opponent's dodge. Dodge may be completely negated by hobble, and also by bows, given the right conditions. HITROLL improves the chance of bypassing an opponent's dodge, while a high INTELLIGENCE can improve one's dodging ability. Being larger than one's opponent may prove to be a slight hindrance to dodging, while being smaller may make getting out of the way just a little easier. See also: PARRY, SHIELD BLOCK, COMBAT STYLE
