'HYPERFOCUS'
Syntax: ff <amount 1-100> <spell name> <target> (optional target)
Example: ff 16 'ballistic attack' dryad (level bonus = square root of amount)
Hyperfocus is a special ability that lets you make your spells stronger. It's
like turning up the power on a spell, but be careful, too much power can hurt you!
How does hyperfocus work?
1. You have a left-hand-side psi power gauge. It looks like this: [----------]
2. Fill the gauge. You can fill it by equipping orbs and "psi enhance" items.
3. Using hyperfocus. The higher the number, the stronger the spell, but it
also drains your psi power and that weakens your spell damage and healing.
4. The danger of overuse. If you use hyperfocus too much, your entire psi
power gauge will be filled with '+' marks and cause a nosebleed.
5. Nosebleeds. These prevent hyperfocus and psi power recovery until physical
rest has healed them. Spells can still be cast, but not hyperfocused.
Tips for using hyperfocus:
* Hyperfocus can be a double-edged sword, but its negative effects quickly wear off.
* Use it wisely. Too often, and you'll get the nosebleed.
* Save it for special occassions. Finishing off enemies, healing in a pinch.
* If your next cast is going to run you out of psi power or overwhelm your
psi gauge with fatigue, consider it might be best to stop using hyperfocus.
In addition to the above, hyperfocus also gives psionicists a presence in
combat. Enemies who flee, miss the psionicist with melee attacks, or who find
themselves deflected by the pyramid of force or other means available to
the psionicist will experience a gradual faltering that requires time to
recover from. See help on
FALTER for information about it. NOTE: There
is *no falter* if the psionicist has a nosebleed.
