'INSANITY'
Syntax: insanity <player name> <really good reason>
Every now and then an adventurer gets confused between the imaginary outer
world and the real world of Serin. These sorts are prone to bursts of
insanity, speaking about meaningless things like their "PC" or "being
online", as if everybody knew what they were talking about. When an
adventurer is suffering particularly badly, he may even start speaking of
his vitality, fitness, accuracy, damage, or attributes as if they were
numbers, or using short forms of words like 'ty' instead of thank you. Some
may even be so insane as to make noises from their mouths that look like
shapes of facial expressions. One particularly severe form of insanity is
one where looking at that adventurer causes one to perform involuntary
actions and over-examinations, or find themselves forced to experience
feelings that are not their own. These victims are a true plague!
Left untreated, this insanity will lead the victim to believe the imaginary
world is the real world, and that the real world of Serin does not exist.
In the most severe cases, the victim may even begin to speak as if he was
"playing" himself, as if he were under the control of some imaginary outside
entity. He may invent past lives and memories which never happened to him.
If you have been asked to read this scroll, ask yourself, have you been
showing the signs of insanity? Insanity is a condition not to be ridiculed,
such scorn tends to aggravate the condition. Instead, please remind them of
their true place, here in Serin. Nobody wants to see insanity overwhelming
others. For yours and everyone's sake, read: HELP ROLEPLAYING
Note: As this is a playerkilling realm, and emotions can run high, the staff
will be forgiving, and in fact encourage players to fully express rage in
whatever form they want - this is catharic and necessary. However, be aware
that repeated poor conduct may violate the behavior codes of cabals and coteries,
and the player (not the staff) will be held accountable for these actions.
