'SHRINES' Shrines are hallowed ground; places of worship that are sacred to the followers of a particular deity. In some cases, the shrine may be where the deity ascended to the heavens. In others, it may be a favored, secluded private spot. You can learn the locations of shrines from the helpfile for each deity (e.g. "help varliv" explains that the shrine is on the river). If you have a deity that you follow, you may use your shrine to pledge yourself as a devout follower, allying yourself permanently as a disciple of the deity. Each shrine has a vendor that sells items to the devout. New members are able to purchase a floating relic that allows them to increase reputation with the deity by simply wearing it while they hunt. As they gain more reputation, that alliance depends so that they may eventually receive a tattoo to display the depth of that dedication.
