How long after the last post in any given thread should it be left alone finally?

<rant>
I'm getting really irritated at seeing all of these topics from one month, two months, even some from 3+ months ago being resurrected with ignorant, senseless posts that add NOTHING of substance to the previous comments. Obviously at some point the subject was deemed "sufficiently discussed" and was allowed to die... why not leave it alone?

If you really feel the obsessive/compulsive need to see your post count go up, at least have the common decency to make your posts worthwhile. Looking at a newly-posted on thread just to see "Yeah, I agree" is one of the most frustrating things to see on this forum, so please stop yourselves.

The purpose of posts not going away is SPECIFICALLY so that people can add what they want be they newbies to the forum or expierence posters. That is why posts don't go away after a set time.

I agree with that; I'm not saying that posts should "disappear," I'm simply referring to people posting nonsense on them for no apparent reason... let me clarify and revise my opinion:

IN MY OPINION, people should only post something if they have something "worthwhile" to add... some advice, a different perspective, etc...

The reason I made this poll in the first place was because I'm tired of seeing that a thread has been responded to, only to check it and find that someone brought back a long-quiet thread with just "yeah, I agree" or something equally benign and pointless as their response.

If you have a question or a new insight to add to a previous post, by all means do so. I realize that people don't have the time to frequent the forums as much as I or other people do, but what purpose does it serve to respond to an old post just to see your name and a few incoherent words?

once it's slipped out of the top 5 it's basically void, and not on hot discussion, but unless theyre adding something really constructing or that hasnt been said, then they shouldnt revive them...

Topics never die! That is simply an excuse for the weak who can't stand the heat thrown at them in a thread!

I post where I want and when I want.

Who are you to stop me?

And if seriously, "stupid pointless comments" sometimes are very funny. And since this is a forum related to a game... You know, all that yabba dabba about having fun and not taking it too seriously. Yeah.
