what happens if I mess up a quest?

So, I tried doing this rescue quest. I think I got to the end of it, I had to grab something but I destroyed it by accident, not realizing right away what to do, so I didn't get the quest completed.

Now, I can't figure out how to re-do it. I can't seem to initiate the quest again to get back to that point I messed up at...

Am I screwed? Or is there a way to start quests over again that I'm missing?

Unless Dav's worked in some sort of "skip ahead" thing that I don't know about, the only way I know of to get back to the middle of an "interrupted" quest is to have someone else that hasn't done it yet begin it. Then you can follow along and once they get to the part you were stopped at, you can finish from there on.

If this is the quest started by the Vampire Charmer, this happened to me too.

But you can go back down and release them all again, and just chase the one you want and get what you need from it.

The prisoners can be released with or without the quest done so just retrace your steps.
