Yep that's right... we've redone the starter area. The old mudschool was a bit, well, old.. and a little over complicated and annoying to the point people even bothered to make a script for the quest. Feel free to muck in and try to break things, see what problems come up, and point out anything important we've left out.
Much thanks is owed to Vanisse for having the patience to put up with the constant delaying while I slacked off. |

I had a sneak peak. I gated in because there was a cloak I had never heard of and when I gated to some flea monster or somthing I was asked what I was doing there. I just knew I was about to be smited. Anyways it looked good for what was finished when I seen it.

When you level above 5 in the new arena thingy, you get stuck there and only way out is recall. That can really be annoying if you chose Darkhaven
or Valour for hometown. |

Respawn time in the new mud school seems to be a lot longer than the old one. If there are multiple people in the mud school, the wait to level up to rank 2 will be tedious. |

Also, took 45 minutes to hit level 2. I had 1000-2000 ms or so lag too. |

I kinda like the old one... I mean the new one is good and all... But if someone gets the shit out of the hole you have to wait to do that quest, and there is still a pretty big wait time on the new davairus dungeon thing.
Like if the pbase picks up then that school is gonna cause some problems |

Not sure what's happening, but I finished the mudschool quest by walking back and forth between res and eld and finished trials of the Academy. Mobs seem to have a lot of hp, and if they don't it seems like they have a lot of ac. |

When i made a newbie to try it out, the monsters that give the sub-issue stuff didn't respawn. I waited for like 10 mins for them to respawn and they didn't. Also, the monsters in the cave seemed a little hard, but I onlye went to try them at lvl 1 cause the other monsters wouldn't respawn. |

the slimy sword doesnt get "taken" from you when you bring it, so you walk back in the room for more keys. |

I like the new eq seems pretty cool but it's still a pain in the fucking ass like falling off a cliff. |

I haven't found a quest reward yet, at least nothing like the last one where you didn't fight at all, got a quest reward, and got to plow through mobs for good exp. Thats fine for newbies who benefit from staying lower level while they learn, not for the rest of us.
Mobs take a bit longer to go through. See above.
Mobs respawn way, way, way, way, way too slowly. My god.
The sub-issue doesn't make a combat set that I have noticed.
None of the sub-issue pieces give stats that I can tell. This is obviously a big deal for people trying to 1 prac, or get all their pracs per level, or get more hp per level.
The mutant goblin dirt kicked me and it stayed there forever until I deleted and remade because I was tired of waiting for an imm response.
The slimy sword wasn't taken from me when I got a key.
I only had to kill one blob before going back to the dude who then sent me to kill the figurines. Killed just one of them also and got to move on again. |

Slade is correct about all the items lacking any benefit other than slot filling. that makes it just that much more difficult fighting the halfling like AC of the blob. its like watching leroy fight with moroni in seringale. Miss spam for most of the time, with the occasional graze between each other.

things that get in the way. Alignment, class, regeneration, defenses.
alignment. paladins and dark knights will be competing at level 1 to screw the other person over and make them wait 10 minutes for respawn, plus they cant group.
classes like casters have no damage spells of any value.
lack of regeneration and defenses causes all classes, especially casters to require spending a long time in there simply waiting, even solo when no other newbies are present.
unless the caster is a high dex race, theyre going to be miss spam, and are practically worthless to group with.
Not everyone wants to group. fighters and rogues can solo it far better than casters.
they solo means you have to wait 10 minutes. that can add to quite a queue when theres 4 of each alignment running through there solo.
We cant force people to group with us(oh, if we could, if only we could).
lack of stat maximizing gear means it takes that much longer, because wis and con are first trained, not dex and str.
I havent played a fire giant but I imagine its hell to zone out watching you endlessly miss a blob for 30 minutes, even at level 3. Theres something very wrong with the armor on all the mobs down there.
the new area is better than the original, the progression is far worse. |
