Newbish Illusionist Questions

A) How long do duplicates last on lets say level 40? Duplicates like gnolls? How much can you make em on lev 40? 2 or 3? (isnt 2 like really gimped?)
B) Does hitroll only affect the chance of successfully dreamstrucking the target or does more hitroll mean higher mental debuff from dreamstruck?
C) Does Doppelganger still work?
D) Why i haven't played the damn class before!?

Normally I'm all for answering questions and giving advice to other players, but these are really lazy questions. Actually playing this class and experimenting a little will answer them and more you haven't thought of yet.

I'm probably wrong, but I can give some insight...

A) Can't remember exact duplicate lifespan, but it's enough time to:
1) Dup more things
2) Haste/Enlarge them all
3) Run to your target, assuming you know where they are
4) Have a nice skirmish

So basically, I'm saying you pretty much need to know the general area of your target before starting your duplicating frenzy.

Also, 2 dups is by no means GIMP. 1 is very difficult to kill with but at rank 40, 2 powerful dups is enough to make you very deadly indeed!

B) Very confident (90% sure) that the actual debuff is the same, it's just the chance to land the spell that is affected by hitroll.

C) See Clifton

D) Not many people play Illusionists, but I love them, they're my favourite class and my heroes were always people like Githnaru and Zylenier.

I was going to create a topic about a specific race for illusionist, but thought I'd post an additional question onto this one.

Does anyone have any tips for pking (or just staying alive) with an illithid illusionist?

Avoid anything that will use slashing/light damage against you, unless you can heavily outdamage them!

NEVER-EVER engage without sanc.

Pick a couple of places to gate away asap when needed. Due gate delay, word first, then gate.

If you're in a cabal, get restorer wands and if below pinnacle, use medic scrolls. Otherwise use red and black(?) staves + energy scrolls.
