You mean people still type? I just log in and leave, my triggers take care of playing for me... |

What MUD client do you use, Vertas?
I think you mentioned GMUD earlier, and you can just do:
Trigger name: "You have become better at *"
Trigger result: "prof self %1"
You can do similar things in JMC/ZMUD.
This is a VERY dangerous trigger, however, because people often will try a rather nefarious strategy by telling you "You have become better at sword!" and spamming it. The trigger in general causes you to lose a few precious milliseconds and depending on your connection speed, this lag could force you to say, be unable to flee when a trip lags you for 1.9 rounds or something. I never use this trigger, instead choosing to highlight the phrase in inverse colors (black on white background) in JMC:
#highlight {black, b white, bold} {You have become better at %1!}
Besides, if you are willing to be slowed down just to know your skill%'s constantly, then you care entirely too much about them! |

Just begin the pattern with a ^ so that it only occurs if its matched without a prefix.
e.g. trigger {^You have been KILLED} {#PLAY deathcry.wav} |

Thanks, Dav. That's very helpful. There's still the lag to account with, though. |

I use alias's like they are going out of style, but not many scripts/triggers. Every skill/spell is mapped to an alias. I keep a seperate list of aliases for pk situations. For these, I have a targeting script and the pk aliases use the target as the argument. I have exparimented with training scripts, but have found them to fail at the most inconvenient times, so I dont bother with them anymore. |

My favorite thing with triggers was when I had a bunch of them set to particular spells for my healer for roleplay reasons(i.e. eyes gleam with a golden light for detect invis) and I forgot to turn them off when I played my Legion--got some interesting looks when a dark knight's "skin was hit with a pure white light". |

If you play multiple characters, then you'll want to create multiple identities. This is one thing that JMC hands really nicely, makes it very easy to just unload one bunch of triggers to load in your others. So if you do have multiple characters, JMC is good for th at. Its a bit more time consuming to set it up on zmud 4.62, but not impossible, just more hassle than it is with jmc. |
