Mark of Failure

So I saw that some halfling thief has the Mark of Failure, and I was thinking a little on the topic and thought what could there be to make his life suck just a little bit less. I came up with this idea.

I think that the Mark of Failure should, in addition to what it already does, allow the bearer of it to cast Hellstream. Maybe a level 10 or 20 Hellstream.

Anyway. Just thought I'd throw that out there.

In the interlude while you await Viggs approval, a question.

I read the log from the thief with the tattoo that couldn't yell and suffered other penalties. I've only seen one tattoo. It was on a mob (I think on a pirate ship) and I wasn't able to get it without dying.

Is that poor thief affected by a special cruel immortal tattoo because he has done something wrong, or is it an in-game tattoo from a mob? If an in-game tattoo - are tattoos dangerous/risky or fantastic/wonderful and you are stuck with them whatever their luck may be forever and ever? But if that is the case, it probably wouldn't be worth the risk to pick up the 'Tattoo of Failure'.

Unless it is a secret, can anyone shed a little light on tattoos. Thanks.

Tattoos are special marks bestowed by immortals on unique players, denoting that the player was a follower of that immortal. They used to be much more common in the game and some of them had some pretty nice perks. There was a ying yang tattoo for true neutrals that would cast dispel good/evil in combat.

Sometime a few years back it was decided that tattoos would be linked to the (as yet unimplemented) religion system. So, instead of having a few floating around here and there, they've been effectively removed from the game.

So apparently the only time a tattoo is given now is for putative purposes.

ETA: In case it wasn't clear, you can't loot a tattoo from a corpse or otherwise remove it from someone or a mob. Only immortals can give tattoos.

Mark of failure could add some dot damage. Have it scratch or graze every tick so that it gimps healing.

It already faerie fires the bearer. I remember one time on my last warlord I got killed and when to get all corpse and wear all, my blood candle somehow showed up as a tattoo. A lot of other muds have religion but I don't feel like its well done. I would rather have ar not have religion than have it suck.
