Wild Smash Question

I have heard from (hopefully) respectable players that, while engaged in combat with a mob, the skill Wild Smash only has a chance to damage others in your PK range if it is used on the finishing blow. However, I have heard equally (hopefully) respectable players state that they have been damaged by it in the middle of a fight. What is the truth of this matter?

The way wild smash works is exactly as its described in the helpfile.

When it says it has a chance to bring people not in combat into combat, it means exactly that.

Suppose you are fighting a nymph in a group of 3. Two of you are hitting it and the third person is sleeping for mana because they're an elf healer. When you wild smash, it will hit and wake the healer and have them attacking you. I'm not sure if it'll break up the group or not. I haven't it that happen. Suppose all 3 of you are fighting the nymph and a 4th person in pk walks in. Your wild smash will have the 4th person attacking you.

Now, when you kill a mob with wild smash, the mob dies and your group mates are no longer in combat. Wild smash check apparently happens after the mob dies, so after its dead, so your wild smash hits your no-longer-in-combat group mates.

It will not break up the group if the person being attacked isn't the person leading and the person attacking isn't the leader.
