To prevent people from rage deleting, put in some code that provides a 24-hour wait before their character is actually deleted, i.e.

To prevent abuse from people trying to use this as a way to quit and escape adrenaline, make it so this only occurs when the player is a ghost. Nobody can attack you while you're a ghost anyways, so using this as a way to avoid to avoid PK isn't an issue. |

Sometimes during intense PK situations, players whose characters
have been recently killed get frustrated and regrettably delete
those characters, erasing HOURS and HOURS of ranking, training
and roleplaying. While not avoidable, this is an undesirable and
unfortunate side-effect of the real-life adrenaline most players
experience, commonly referred to as a 'rage delete.'
By enabling 'rage delete protection' you will be given a 24-hour
"cool off" period if you attempt to actively delete your character.
Do you want to enable 'RAGE DELETE PROTECTION' (Y/N)? |

| I think the thing is, is that it really shouldnt be the immortals' responsibility to stop someone from being a baby...which is basically what rage deleting is. I'd conversely rather see a 1 week IP ban on someone who rage deletes. If they want to be a a spoiled rotten child, then treat them like one and take away their toys. |

Its something which I've considered, maybe I should be worrying more about why people nerdrage so bad they delete in the first place though.
My opinion... as a player, it feels good to have the power to destroy in your hands. You might regret it later, but man, disposing of an unwanted piece of shit feels good. Its therapeutic, soothing. It'd feel hollow if you could just log back on. Also, when a player really wants to delete , he's going to hit the priests 50 times. |

I don't rage delete at all, but I will agree with Davairus, and many others, that's it's nice to just say 'f*** this sh**, i'm out!' and head to the backyard and drink a beer and smoke a cigar. From my quote of Dav, it would feel kind of depressing to rage delete pissed off and then a few hours log back in with your head held low. Hell, if you wanted to IMP that, you could put something embarrising for when they log back in like:
Capt. Cry baby decided not to take his life, give him a pat on the back for giving it the ol' college try!
