Half-Elves

I would think it interesting if half-elves could also be evil seeing as they could be half human and half drow and it would give an interesting roleplay aspect as well I think. Any thoughts?

this has been brought up many times before with the answer typically being just roll a neutral half-elf say your half drow and have fun.

I'vere thought of that too, but there a many inherent differences between good/neutral and evil.

One of the differences is that evil races typically have a penalty to the maximum combined stat number.

take elf and drow
STR: 18, INT: 25, WIS: 21, DEX: 23, CON: 15 = 102
STR: 18, INT: 24, WIS: 18, DEX: 24, CON: 16 = 100

or dwarf and duergar
STR: 22, INT: 17, WIS: 21, DEX: 18, CON: 25 = 103
STR: 21, INT: 18, WIS: 19, DEX: 20, CON: 22 = 100

storm and fire giants
STR: 24, INT: 17, WIS: 17, DEX: 16, CON: 21 = 95
STR: 25, INT: 15, WIS: 15, DEX: 16, CON: 23 = 94

There's also usually other vulnerabilities involved in being evil, such as vuln to water, light, slashing, mithril, mental, etc.

half-elves used to be very limited in class selection, and have decently strong stats for defenses.

half-elves are also a combination of elf (good only), and human (any alignment). It can be said that the innate goodness of elves prevents any half-blood from becoming evil without something going terribly terribly wrong.

evil half-elves could be imbalanced, they don't really fit the game lore, and they wouldn't be subjected to stat penalties. There's not even that many of the current game race/class combinations being played atm, so adding the possibility of more simply dilutes the pool.

Also, another thing. In the helpfiles or something, it says drows look down upon humans and think they're scum and stuff so it would make sense that they would not want to mate with them.

you can bang with verconia in baldurs gate 2 if you use your protagonist in the asshole/douchebag guy manner whenever you talk with her.

Plus, there's always rape. Let's not discount that when it was part of the status quo for thousands of years in human history in real life..
