So I originally posted this in the discrete suggestions subforum, but I figure I'll just bring it out to the public for thoughts.

I know you guys have done a lot to improve the solo ranking experience an that's great. With that said, I think the mage classes still suffer in the solo department especially after rank 40. What if necromancer and illusionist charmies didn't penalize experience for a solo ranker?

Invokers still get shafted a bit. They don't really have the tools to be able to solo rank with any sort of efficiency after rank 40 since they just don't have the damage or defenses to either kill things quickly or stay in the fight a long time. What if invokers got a spell that temporarily summoned some sort of elemental to aid with ranking? This could carry over to groups of two as well and have the elemental act as a mercenary. Mercs max out at what, 35? The invoker elemental could mirror its owner's level. It wouldn't assist in pvp.

Pets damage doesn't keep up with the guild mercs, so an invoker with an elemental and a mercenary would have some decent damage output. And an invoker being able to summon an elemental to round out a group of two would provide some incentive to join with an invoker besides just getting the experience multiplier from a group of two.

I was thinking more on my invoker elemental suggestion and came up with this idea for them: 'c elemental fire' 'c elemental ice'

Basically this just gives invokers the option of getting some vuln help against oaken beasts, fire giants, or whatever. Just a thought.

The utter power u get at 50 as a necro and illus does not need to be supplemented through easier/solo ranking

I will only point out that being an Illu, Invoker, or Necro all have 0 penalty as far as exp goes. Invokers can solo paladins or any magical damage type creature above 40.

and thats not very fair in either way.

the best advice is to never solo anyway. It's just not worth wasting your life on. wait for a group

People don't solo enough. Youd see more applicants with more mastered skills and way more gold if people were patient and solod some

But sometimes you need to go through the drudgery to get to the fun. Sure, you could log your char on and chill in your guild while you play Diablo and wait for a groupmate to appear, but you could also inch towards that next rank. And it's more important for caballed players especially to be able to solo rank. There are times when there are 6 Legions and 2 unpinnacled Knights and you need to take every chance you can get to rank.

The illu/necro thing is definitely not as good an idea. But I do think invokers should get something to make them more appealing to other players to group with. Right now, they run out of mana pretty quick and mystic tendrils isn't quite enough to keep their affs flowing like milk and honey. Hence, giving them a ranking perk that doesn't affect their pvp. It's almost like the illusionist phantom dragon. Except in the invoker's case there wouldn't be any pvp benefits, just ranking ones.

Smart invokers use their mana wisely. Don't just spam meteor swarm and hellstream/ray of vindication without sleep. They catch the hour at the start of the fight and tendrils to get a bit more. Similar to a shaman catching an hour for heals.

Either way, making the golems be like mercs for necro's would be interesting but they are too powerful if you pay attention to their damage output, you'd see necro's opting to solo rank instead of join with one other person.

Im well aware of the whole "hours in, pimp suit out" bit to AR. Not that much different from WoW in that respect. It is the people who are willing to spend hours and hours playing PER DAY that level fastest, have the most gold, and subsequently have the best EQ suits. Then they blame others for not training skills enough or ranking fast enough. It only takes a few people who do AR and only AR all day to raise the bar beyond the reach of "casuals".

U can trigger ofcol. Get from 15-25ish in about 2 weeks playing 1-2 hours a days. You'll have tons of gold and be way above the rockets in skills.

In other words PATIENCE. It may take you a bit longer than the people with a ton of free time but you also have a life and a life is its own reward. Ar isn't meant to be conquered in a week although there are people who would rather get to 50 and inducted without 50 hours played. Those people suffer.Those that have all day to afk train or whatever may get to the "finish line" sooner... but then they have to wait there for the rest of us.
