Ok then its been messed with since I checked that out, but its still 50 hp, and its not to be underestimated.

50 hp.
armor reduced damage by 5%.. you now have 52 effective hp
dodge, 40% chance to work ... you now have 70 hp (granted, RNG-based damage is less desirable than direct damage reduction if it was all you had, but unless youre fighting with your last 50 hp this is a non issue)
parry, 40% chance to work ... you now have 98 hp
sanc, half damage.. you now have ~200 hp

So thanks to armor, sanc and defenses, each hp is worth 4 times what you start with naked&weaponless and no sanc. That is 3 massacres worth of damage from that 50 hp.

Imagine if there was a red dragon helm with 50 hp on it. It would be the best helm in the game.

Also, as long as you are using skills then they will go up. There is no secret.
