OK I see four distinctive gripes here:

I was pked, I had the opportunity to prevent it, and I didn't
The person who killed me killed me twice (bug abuse)
The person who killed me doesn't roleplay
I lost some items due to a bug

Let's go in order.

Re: I was pked, etc. - man, that just sucks. Like, really. Everybody who reads this forum has been there. You turn the other cheek and get kicked in the ass for it. It's really obnoxious and it makes you feel like an old shoe. We're all here for ya.

Re: Person killed me twice - I saw this. It was a bug, and it was pretty bunk. Like I said in-game though, I can't fault the player for immediately attacking again when she saw you in pk range. It's reflexive to attack when someone you just killed is unghosted. Try not to take it as an insult.

Re: Lack of roleplay - This person does actually roleplay, usually with other evils. I don't know why she decided to kill you specifically, but you probably looked vulnerable.

Re: Lost items - Refunding rares is above my pay grade and I can't make a call on that so I have to defer to a higher level immortal.

"I get that rolling evil is the way around having to rp any pk"

Incorrect. Although we are not going to be able to open an inquiry for every single pk, we always investigate characters that have been rampaging below level 50 - of any alignment. Its my personal opinion that the game became a permanent bucaneer's den when Justice special guards were mutilated, but nobody seems to actually complain about that. I think that nothing is getting done about it due to player's not seeing the value of the Justice cabal to new players like yourself, and a new player obviously isn't going to complain about a change to something they don't know about that greatly benefited countless vets that would like to gain more license to behave like assholes to one another. Ordinarily I'd advise you to roll a Justice but I have no answer these days. Hopefully one day everyone wises up and realizes this is what a town sheriff is needed for, and not just for gangbanging occasionally flagged guys and winter runs.

Hmm I'm getting a bit side-tracked here. In any case, I guess I would advise carry the spotted purple pills instead of just recall pots. Treat everybody in your PK range as a threat and you won't ever be taken by surprise. We definitely don't use the term "roleplaying reason" loosely on the game, but neither do we require people to fill out application forms, and you should be well aware of the risks (and hopefully enjoy them).

"why would you even attempt to murder the person you JUST murdered 30 seconds before"

its a game bug really, and some players come to beat you not be a sport about it. We track our bugs. Some take longer to fix, but a bug like this is flagged critical and put to the front of the queue then fixed immediately. I think you were fairly compensated, but we'll discuss that a little on the weekend again. This happens so rarely that I dont have a process in place for it. I literally can't just lookup what was sacced that should not have been sacced and you'll have most of it back before we get through the discussion needed to devise and implement a correct process (I definitely don't want to "wing it" with recompensation of equipment, sorry).

"this person runs to town and logs as soon as they can, how does any of that fit with any kind of roleplay"

Everybody does that. Players login to PK and leave afterward. Its not something that really occurs to the pk'ing player but I have been on the end of it and know what you mean, especially in lower levels. I know that it feels like they're just an unwanted trash character when they're not 50 yet and do that. You'll win fights and feel like doing the same. Its a game, at the end of the day. Not JUST a game, but it is one. Personally, when I pk'ed, I did not quit out, and instead I would just keep multikilling my targets until they leave first or run out of lives .. that's because for me to even want to kill somebody in game, I would want to eradicate them from the realm. I don't know which is better. Casual vs hardcore pk'ing, pick your poison on that one. I might advise relief in this case.

Nah, I like posts like this. Shows you care. Back in the day when there were a lot more players, we had this big initiative to counter-trash all the trash pkers because we were so butthurt
