Ego whip does a cumulative -1 to hitroll at my level (24). Its damage is pretty terrible, and I was assuming that it did -2 hit, or -5 hit per shot at this point.
Because it hasn't done it yet, I've sort of lost hope that it will. At any level, -1 to hitroll is too negligable to mean anything. If this spell doesn't do it already, I think it'd be more then sensible to have it do -10 to hitroll at level 51.
Why does this make sense? Because A) you can save against the affect. B) 5 successful landings of it would put people at around 0 hitroll. and C) I think that's more than fair. |

i'd just like to point out that level 50 is the max for mortals. I think it's fine the way it is... |

Fine being useless?
Nice arguement.
Psionics should be able to drain every last point of hitroll out of a person with this spell. The way it is, it'd require over 100 castings to accomplish that.
Great spell!! =not= |

If you can drop a person by -10 hitroll total it's going to have a major impact on how much they're hitting you. |

Yes, but -10 hit requires at least 10 castings, and remember that against an opponent with even a little bit of saves, it's going to land maybe 30% of the time. Ego whip would be really great if it didn't do any damage, such that one could use it on sleeping victims. As it is, completely useless as far as I'm concerned.
Zurcon, if you're playing a psi, you'd better get used to certain spells being nearly useless. However, don't let it discourage you -- the few spells you have that aren't useless are pretty powerful. |

Sure, against mobs maybe. You underestimate the power of hitroll. |

You are completely underestimating Ego Whip. Give it a try at higher ranks. |

I did try it...so much that I almost mastered it in duels and it never proved to be good. A psi needs to flee and heal up very often, and fights are usually long and drawn out. Ego whip doesn't last long enough to be effective. I'd bio manip and hope for a blind rather than using ego whip. Unless you've changed it somehow in the past 6 months, it is not worth a practice. |
