I don't want to sound overly negative, but for a MUD that's been around for almost 20 years, this shit is unacceptable:
a potion - from The Storage Room
a potion - from The Armory
a potion - from The Storage Room
a potion - from The Storage Room
a potion - from The Storage Room
a potion - from The Storage Room
a potion - from The Storage Room
a potion - from The Armory
a potion - from The Armory
a scroll - from The Armory
a scroll - from The Storage Room
a scroll - from The Armory
a scroll - from The Armory
a scroll - from The Storage Room
a scroll - from The Storage Room
a scroll - from The Armory
That's what you get when you look up consumables from the Sylvan Vale. What's ridiculous is that some of these scrolls and potions are pretty useful (there's a level 5 potion of cure critical and a level 10 scroll of cure critical in there), but nobody uses them because it's a nightmare to manage them in your inventory.
There's also an orange from Valour and an orange from Mount Saidan. Both are pills, and both are useful (one casts refresh, one casts armor). But I can never use both because they both have the exact same name and you can't tell them apart in your sack or inventory.
There might be others too if anyone can think of them. |

I think the duplicates on the scrolls and potions in the Vale are intentional, or have always thought it was....have to sort through what is what if you seek to use them....could be wrong. |

The words you used are literally "unacceptable", "nightmare to manage" and "ridiculous" and you also pointed out the age of the MUD, which was a clear and utter condemnation of it, all after you said you didn't want to sound overly negative. You also created a forum post instead of filing an ISSUE, which is hijacking the process we have in place by raising alarms as if these were fires. I have literally not used any of these items in my entire mudding career. You stupid idiot. |

When someone says "I don't want to sound X", that means they're totally going to sound X. But at least I'm aware of how bitchy I sound and I'm willing to admit it.
Anyways, I thought issues were just for typos, bugs and player complaints. This isn't a bug or a typo, just bad design leftover from stock MERC code. |

It's a pile of unlabeled scrolls and potions. There's one pile of it in the game. I think it's within the bounds of reason that one guy ever wouldn't identify his potions on the outside.
Bugs are for issues. Everyone's got issues.

I think totally unacceptable is a bit of a stretch. I wouldn't even call it unacceptable.
Now blatantly OOC examinables for nostalgic purposes.... |

P.S. I find those stacks useful, there are 3 scrolls - 2 cure critical, 1 cure serious.
Low level, but they're also supremely easy to get, and repop fast.
It's like adding cure light to your spell list.
Having said all that, I'm possibly the worst PKer of all time (Baer excluded) so... you know... maybe they're useless |
