Hrm, lets see how long I can hold out. Getting a brand new 1.86 Ghz 1GB RAM w/ RADEONx300 laptop soon. That may change my...computing habits.

A lot of people seem to need to go through at least one 3-12 month self-imposed quit before they're able to get real life shit done first instead of AR. I've seen people literally play a shit load of hours, then panic because they feel they've got addicted and give the game up completely... some of the game's best ever players, just suddenly gone and refusing to ever log in again. I know some of them are going to browse by, read this post and realise they're amongst them.
Some ways to evade a serious case of mud addiction:
* Stop playing for the rest of the day if you find you're not really enjoying it
* Finish homework/study first - don't put yourself short on time because of AR
* Even if you have a lot of free time, dont spend it all on AR. Do reading, hobbies, etc, variety is the spice of life.
* Save those ridiculous 6 hour long mud sessions for weekends (or other days where you dont have to do much) |

I don't watch tv so I just mud on and off when most people are staring slack jawed at talentless idiots prancing around the latest reality tv show. |

some of the best evers yes do this sometimes, but, in my case, more like some mediocre mary =P but i do miss it. it scares me though =) i dabble now and again, but mostly try to stay away. i wish i was confident enough in my ability to moderate gaming time =P |

I've been to the brink of addictedness and have come back. I think I logged close to 2000 hours on Polik and then quit. Started again like a month ago as a simple time killer and now have 3 chars going....
It's worse now though. In addition to being the same old mud I loved years ago...it's changed so much that there are so many things I have to explore again and feels like a new game. Soooooo bad for my health.... |

Actually if you have the willpower to stay totally logged out, then you have the willpower to play AR a bit and leave it behind when you've got to ..give yourself some credit where its due.
Here are some signs of addiction for you :-
* cancelling plans already made to play instead
* being unable to play makes you anxious/irritable
* still playing, even when its made you frustrated
* playing 6 hrs a day. don't play that much
Most people who play AR are not actually addicted. The tips I posted help prevent you getting addicted, but if you are .. then yeah, you might need to go as far as a hiatus. |
