There's been a small change that has been implemented for a while now but is something that not all of you may have noticed: the 'get all' command for a player's corpse now ignores align/ethos zap items. This means full-looting someone is no longer as easy as 'get all' then spamming 'sac 1.', since items that would've been zap-dropped stay within the corpse. (Getting individual items from the corpse, however, will continue to zap-drop normally.) This also means that in group fights, there's a big advantage for the dead person's groupmates to help loot the corpse, since chances good are that they'll be of a similar align/ethos in contrast to the side that made the kill, and so the dead person's groupmates will be able to loot the corpse much more "cleanly" than their opponents. This is a compromise to allow letting the killers take stuff that would be useful to them while also reducing how potentially harsh the eq loss from death might be.
This doesn't have as much effect in one-on-one kills unless the death happens to be near the ghost's altar, in which there's a much better chance for him to come back quickly to clean out what's left in his corpse.
Without the massive 'get all' align/ethos zap-to-ground, this change also reduces (but does not prevent) lowbie vulturing. |
