Its cool to poke fun and all, making smart comments like "is that a wow guild" or maybe Louis's bitter "so how are the keepers doing?", but I hope you people realise that there are human beings running of this mud, not robots. I think we are wired to worry about our own lot and even becomes dissatisfied with something that's gotten familiar, so I definitely don't begrudge anyone for not doing that. But listen.. a mud is a lot of work. This game is like a newborn child, we need to give it constant attention so it doesnt get pwned, and come up with new things to keep it from getting "boring" (in a newborns case, "bored" would be the proper word, but its kinda the same). Only... hang on, it isnt a newborn child is it? Its a hobby, not a living, and games come second to real life. If real life gets in the way, you have to stuff your game in a drawer for a while, no matter how much you love it. I would estimate there were some serious RL problems that interfered in keeper's being benched for this long. Burzuk didn't even finish his new year rating change and its already march... what do you think?

There is no ETA on keepers, or the next significant gameplay change of any kind for that matter. So if something is bothering you, you're just going to have to lump it for a while. I'll say 2 months. If I don't hear from from Burzuk what he's doing with this after 2 months, I will mothball the current source code (for easy rollback) and then take matters into my own hands. Its quite possible I could screw everything up and you won't be any happier, so I'd rather wait a while first.

kind of hard to defend anything since text doesnt convey tone of voice, but i was actually curious not bitter. thats why i didnt get it when kal and a few other guys started making jokes saying they are doing great. i'm not a sarcastic person, though sarcastic people always assume i'm being one. but i will say that somewhere there was a fuck up. but players like progress, plain and simple. yes players complain and constantly ask for more, but that's better than having players that don't care about changes and who don't look forward to trying out what you throw their way. because those kinds of players don't stick around.

Shame warlords couldn't have been around in the interim until the last minute (assuming they had to be canned), thats my only criticism about it. The cabal sounded tailor made for me now that I have more experience with the game and my style within it.

Let me put this another way, simpler. We are about a year overdue on the keepers, and bunch of people wanted an explanation. All I am doing is saying look at the results of the last year and you can, clearly, see that something serious has been going on. Even though its none of our business, that doesn't give us a right to ignore that and, even worse, respond to it with anger and hatred. Its completely ignorant to do so. I think it is downright disgusting to make comments that fan the flames its caused, for fun or whatever. When Burzuk is visibly sitting around on the game doing nothing like Odoacer/Avindus/zillion other game imps ended up, please bitch at him. While he is taking so much time to get anything done, the best you (the community) can do is wish him well and wait.

The main reason I won't go ahead myself would probably be because of the too-many-cooks-spoil-the-broth syndrome, but I have been around for the discussions and could probably take a good shot at coming up with what Burzuk had in mind. Plus if he needs to fix it, it won't be too far off. I prefer to wait because I know Burzuk will do it properly, but obviously everything has a deadline. Our deadline is more like "the time when people finally get sick of level 50" as opposed to "not getting paid", but there IS a deadline. So I'll say 2 months. Look at the date of this post. Please don't bump up Keepers again until then. Instead, put the energy into deciphering the rest of game's problems, that way you can help fix them sooner.

Warlords didnt go anywhere by the way. If you think about it, I'm right.

Well the people that keep bothering aren't like normal people and just because their imms in the game it still means their people. They got shit to do just like the rest of us and when its good and ready it will be out don't fucking worry.

I think an official warlord coterie would be good. Pretty selective and low numbered (not vampire low, but not as high as the lowest cabal either) to not cut into cabal population too much. Either give them something to defend, say maybe they could help police both herald tavern and mystic tower against aggressive intruders as a random idea, or probably better would be nothing to defend but under normal circumstances (like they didn't just already die to the person asking or whatever) they are expected to always be up for duels (not duck people and run and hoard), enforced by imm discretion.

I would say give them stance only, thats it. However, no more anti-magic bit, so they would have to maintain gyvels and detect items. Plus they could use purples until they get stance, and rank freely.

Basically then its all about honor code and the love of a good battle, etc.

Could go neutral only, or I could even see goods and evils in there. However you are neutered a bit by joining due to honor code, so evils can't act out. You'd basically have to ask for duels or not fight just like the neutrals would (goes for goods against evils too, just like evils against anyone), except for people that make themselves enemies to you like legions attacking, evils attacking you as a good, insulting big mouths (if you are neutral or evil), etc. Plus in addition to that you could say in helpfile you'd be even more selective with goods and evils or something. Also for any of them any stray from honor, using your stance and being aggressive on crappy pk'ers and noobs and such wouldn't fly at all and you'd get in real trouble.

Stance with no penalty to using magic is more powerful than all knight and legion powers put together imo. If you haven't played cabals lately they don't really get any powers that can be used against non-flagged people.

Looks like we all have different memories about Warlords. When I stopped imming it I washed my hands of it and did my best to avoid it like the plague. It was the worst Imming experience I'd ever had. The best thing I liked about Sethronu was it was the first Warlord I didn't need to supervise constantly to stop Eldorian from writing me long reports on them. Sad, isnt it?

You basically have this cabal which exists to give people a strong incentive to refrain from ganking anyone they want - at its heart and soul, that's all Warlords ever existed for. But the overpowered skills attracted people from the wrong crowd, people who should have just been Legions. Guess what those last Warmasters (and Imm) have done for 50's since then? Legions. Its fine you know, we dont hate it, because thats what we have that Legion cabal around for. If you are missing Warlords, consider Legions, because that's what they wanted to be. You just have to be evil alignment, and accept the gameplay consequences that brings, such as taking damage from wrath, unlike neutral Warlord stone warriors.

Legion might have 'loves to fight/pk' in common, but has a lot of unfun baggage with it too. Such as tendency to get involved in gangbangs and also get gangbanged all the time instead of 1 on 1s, a bit of an obligation to dominate everyone instead of just fight the best, i.e. killing noobs and random people that won't buy protection or are in other cabals, etc.

Can't wait to make a Keeper of the Balance. I'll have to fifty a neutral first, though. Getting used to the EQ is going to S U C K.

They're both implementors but i think burzuk would be more of a 61 than a 60, except for he can't read minds like dav can.
