When you enchant an item (weapon/armor) does that enchantment replace the standard benefits that come with that item? |

No it doesn't but you can destroy it or remove all the work you've done on it. |

To expound a bit on what Soldier said, no enchanting weapons and armor doesn't remove whatever affects were on the item, unless it fades. If you see the 'glows brightly, then fades' line that means that all the affects that were on the item are stripped. That includes any stat bonuses, saves, ect, not just the enchantments you put on it, so take that into account if you're enchanting something with a bunch of affects. There's also always the risk of destroying the item too. |

ah yes, the power of fading. You forgot to mention that fading will remove the +, - or whatever, but the spell effect will stay. If you fade a protective shield it becomes a shield at casts armor and shield without the minus to hit. Oh how fate plays with my emotions. It will take a few times to get somthing to fade and not be destroyed. enchanting is an addictive hobby that will just leave you heartbroken when you lose the item or destroy the best item you have ever made.
