Theres been some talk lately about items like effigies and whether or not they are purely mental based, or both mental and charm.

Are these effigies and maybe a couple other such weapons if they exist charm or not?

This would be useful for anti-slith and anti-minotaur of course.

Also useful so you don't use a charm weapon on a half-elf or illithid, but why you would use anything other then a slashing weapon is beyond me.

The realms are filled with shitloads of weapons that suck unless you really look at them it could be a 15 avg damage weapon but can destroy giants like they ain't shit. You just need to ask around the realms you might find someone knowledgeable enough or nice enough to tell you.

But remember there are more races that resist charm like dwarf, drow, and gnome.

Charm weapons are weapons that do damage of the types: illusionary spectre, phantom dragon anything, phantasmal griffon. Illusionists can cast these spells directly, and effigies, rods of mind sceptres, and certain arrows do this type of damage. Charm is not distinct from mental, but rather is a subset of mental spells and damage. The in game idea was that charm spells/attacks use illusions to trick the victim into being injured, and so the lower intelligence the victim has, the more vulnerable he is to charm. Minotaurs are vulnerable to charm, but not to mental in general. All high intelligence races are resistant to charm, but not necessarily mental in general.
