Recent changes about gangbanging

Horrible! I would like to know the reason or event that spurred this change? I'm not saying so, but I get the vibe that some Imm is pissed off about some little happening in the game, and got a hair up his arse to crack down on OOC. Not saying this is absolutely true, and I may very well get attacked for this, but it's the vibe that surrounds this thing that I am feeling. I have read the change in game, now I would like to hear in this forum, a more explanatory reason?

These changes really takes out a lot of the joy that made AR different from all the other MUDs: The close knit player base. The code or areas or originality or what ever have you, are not. Strip away all those things, make AR like any other MUD and it's still 500 times better because of the players. Granted some OOC connections should be tightened down upon, but this change seems to be squeezing in places it dosen't need to be squeezed in.

Whether or not anyone else agrees with me, and whether or not this sounds stupid, this is what I think. A little bit of OOC adds some flavor to this MUD, unlike the others where the OOC is rampant and the other things suck, AR had enough OOC control to make it well enough controled. All this is going to do is makie playing the higher levels boring, make it harder for newbies to feel connected, and decrease the level of serious and good players. Once again, just one mans opinion. Not saying I am aboslutely 100% right, but this is what I feel. So let the burning start, I am ready to be flipped out of the pan now.

Learn to !@#$ing edit your posts, please. You made me read that moronic post and its moronic retraction, Quiet Wanderer. The number of complete idiots on this forum is truly shocking.

Anyway.. I'm all for outlawing OOC gangbanging. It violates the RP atmosphere of the game. It's easy enough to gangbang, but when you can design a group, log on at the same time and stay permagrouped.. you exert an incredibly unfair advantage against the rest of the playerbase. Why the hell do people think this will eliminate gangbanging/group fighting? As long as you have a Knights cabal, you will have gangbanging. I got so sick of seeing this at one point that I made a character that would get into Knights and stand up for solo fighting, i.e. Avendin. AFAIK, I have never been the victim of an OOC gangbang, but I have been in mammoth group brawls from my first 50 onwards even on uncaballed characters. When cabal membership goes up, the game at 50 will be far more interesting than it is right now with just a couple of dominant cabals, namely Warlord and Justice from what I've seen.

I think the HOLY GANGBANG OF DOOOOOOOOOOOOM things are a little different. To those that dont know what it is, it is when 8 people of the same cabal (plus allies) gangbang a single person. When the Knights use it, it is the RIGHTEOUS GANGBANG OF DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM. Cant remember the last person it was used on.

Personally I am all for this change, even though I had no idea it was about to be instituted. Too many times certain people will log off one of their characters, and log on a different character, and their bum buddy logs on 2 seconds after, they group up without a word, and third idiot shows up and joins up and boom.

Running at 60% kept me alive.. when you have less than 600 hp naked, you can lose plenty quickly. Besides, I won the majority of my fights by completely overwhelming my enemies before they could prepare. When the opponent is prepared, an invoker knight will probably be facing high mental and maledictive saves plus protection and sanctuary which means dispelling will take a good long time while the invoker loses hp the whole time. You might not outdamage your opponent % for % going with afflictive spells until you wear their supplies out. Most of my PKs took either 2 minutes or half an hour and not much in between.

Anyway.. the last Righteous Gangbang of Doom I remember was Kardon (log).

I remember when the warlords were at war with knights, and somehow justices and legion at the same time. Was quite funny when 5 of us warlords all with low level flails and whips and barely any equipment...went through town lagging Elimeleth? What that her name? Some elf healer justice that would never die! Then we almost killed Tayer, almost lagged him to death but he escaped at awful. Then we went around killing knights. Wars are the best.
