Other than the role-playing advantages, are there any benefits to playing a Neutral character? It seems to me the penalty of not gaining extra experience from killing good/evil mobs like light/darkwalkers do is pretty hindering, especially at higher levels.

There are a few neutral only weapons scattered around, but the real advantage lies in not having to deal with the good/evil politics. Playing either good or evil significantly increased your odds of being attacked by the other side just for the simple fact that you have opposing alignments. Not saying neutrals don't get attacked, but it's generally with less frequency.

Also you have a much greater pool of potential groupmates. Goods/evils are excluded from grouping with 1/3 of the players. Neutrals have no such restriction. This makes up for the experience loss, in my view.

The greater pool of groupmates usually is why I end up rolling Neutral. Especially with the pbase shrunk as much as it is, I end up having to do something entirely different, so neutral is the best for me in that regard.

- align based spells don't work well on you
- you can be friends with everybody
- no LEEEEEEROY charging at you, but also no penalty for killing goodie mobs by accident/on purpose
- you can be a keeper Wink

Thought about rolling a Keeper, I wonder if it would be any fun.

On a more serious race issue, Dwarves and Halflings are both uber-pimp but can't be evil.
