Getting rares

I'm finding myself at the point in time with my characters where I'd like to start finding rares. Not killing other players for them, but knowing what mobs to find them on. Any pointers on how to start gaining this knowledge/skill?

I believe lore tells you what area an item came from and locate object will tell you what mob carries it, if there's one in.

also you can try asking people you see where did they gain their wares from. that can help sometimes and make you some friends... i guess

They just about covers it , also , if a mob looks unique enough (e.g. it has a name, and it stands out as the strongest mob in the area) it nearly always has a rare item, so you can have someone analyze the mob (bard skill) to see the rares it has.
