Like "pick chest" and instead of disabling a trap it's considered an aggressive action toward the mimic and the mimic attacks you? |

I really like this idea, especially in areas where chests will load in random rooms. |

Excellent suggestion that took less than 30 mins to implement.... I have updated the mimics in old thalos to be regular chests, which turn into mimics when you try to open them... I haven't reached the higher level areas yet, but the game is ready to support them in later random chest locations. |

not sure what kind of traps you have set up/in line for the chests, here are my thoughts.
explosive - i assume this ones in with the bard fodder comment.
poison - high level chests should have darkenbeast equivalent. (winter chests?)
blind/curse? - not sure if i like these, but possibilities still?
pretty much any other maledictives - saves would help stave off/shorten(?) affects.

So far some new locked chests can now be found in...
- goblin village
- sewers
- ofcol
- dankbark forest
I passed a template down to the lowbie imms so that they can help populate the areas with some more of these.
We will be conscientious of where we put our chests, I have advised them that players out exploring are the ones who will be most appreciative of running across chests, so they'd go best around locations that quest traffic passes through, some of the old sites of Virgil's 150 quests for a start.

I also remembered you sometimes can't pick chests because some high level creature is standing too close to the lock. I have made this attemptable with sneak enabled. If you've played Morrowind you will remember what to expect... you will be attacked by the mob if you don't succeed. Its not a sure thing, so don't be surprised if you fail. 100% sneak doesn't guarantee success against mobs that are higher level than you. Also, guarded chests will be used sparingly, probably for rare items, but maybe things like big-gold containing safes in the mayors office etc. |

I've always thought that mages would spell the be-JEE-zus out of their chests/etc. to prevent roaming fingers from stumbling upon their prized possessions... demons too, for that matter. It's not hard to believe maledictives (or even stuff like 'dispel magic') would be within that line of affects.
