To help people who are unfortunate enough to play through telnet I have
added a crude aliasing system to the MUD. Note that this is by no means not
intended to put Zuggsoft out of business. It is simply to ease the pain of
constant typing. You may store up to 10 aliases. I recommend you use
numbers for your aliases, this will avoid any possible clash with commands
that may in future be added to the MUD. Aliases are stored on your
character, and will not be present for your other characters. You will have
to remake them each time, or get a mud client (there is no substitute for a
mud client, though it may hamper you as you first learn to use one).
The commands to use aliases are as follows:
Define/Redefine an alias:
alias
Remove an alias:
unalias
Now for the technical stuff. This will replace the first word you have
typed on your command line with your alias. So if you have an alias
called 1, and it is defined as com 'create food', typing 1 will be
expanded to com 'create food' by the MUD. It will also be possible
to "prefix", for example, if you set 1 to com sanctuary, and then typed
"1 monster", this would sanctuary the monster.
However, I have not provided support for expansion anywhere else in
the line. This would bog me down with more problems than I care to
deal with at the moment. That will be a possible expansion to the alias
system if this provisionary period of testing goes well.
Any problems with setting them or things going awry may be taken to forums.

Oh, damn... thanks Seryie, now I've figured out how to get my uber-beast slavemaster race/class implemented:
Newbie chat - it works wonders. |
