I tried looking at the thread on weapon style changes, but it didn't tell me if what I thought was right actually was. I would assume that quick weild prevents you from having to wait out the lag for weapon style change? Not sure, don't quote me on that.

Ok I'll answer honestly. Quick wield lets you gain weapon/combat advantage quicker than others. Normally when you change with a warrior it takes atleast two rounds for the advantage to kick in, but with quick wield it's instantaneous.

I remember from a previous character that quick wield was mastered automatically. I think it was a ranger.. With my current character it needs to be practiced. Did you actually master yours Tepesh or did it start that way?

quick wield doesn't need any training. it works like it is already mastered even at 75%. at least, that's what this thread says anyway.

look how old the topic is let alone all the changes and tweak done. When that thread came out no matter what you did it never went up that is why. Now that it does improve dont you think it wouldnt stay the same?

that is an valid argument, but consider the dates involved. on Jan 21 2009 quick wield was working like it was mastered, then on Feb 22 2010 it starts improving. I can't find any reason for this other than dav decided to put in the one liner (check_improve()). I also can't find any updates saying why it improves. regardless, quick wield is changed AGAIN on Oct 14 2010. now it just shortens the duration of advantages.

Quote:
* You will not gain your combat advantage until a round or two after swapping the weapon (this duration is lowered by quick wield) ... your opponent will still percieve you as in an advantaged state via his prompt, as this information is important to give him the opportunity to decide what his next move is. But really you are waiting out the intermediate state.

also keep in mind that inside of check_improve() you can get the message 'you learn from your mistakes and your skill improves'. anyway, the affect of quick wield isn't seen until after 1 round. You don't see things like *you switch your weapon* *round goes by* *your quick wield improves!* you see improvements when you wield the weapon right? in either case I'm just going to say that I think it's static set to give you 1 round of 'neutral state' of advantages.
