I never liked seeing a cabal member(Yes, I'm talking about a specific char right now, but won't say any names) that is neary decked for like six weeks with the same eq, and have ZERO kills. I don't get it.... |

Yeah this kill count is awfully low, but when Mkatos got full looted by Justice at the beginning of the month he stopped coming around as much I guess. Other people are falling off, and less 50 pk is going on right now then I am used to seeing. |

I second that. I'm showing up as 6 deaths, but only 2 of those were from PKs. |

If we did not count mob deaths, you'd see players running away in awful condition and suiciding on mobs to preserve their precious pk record. Counting all deaths is full-proof. |

I guess that makes sense... would people rather eat a death with certainty than run and possibly escape at the risk of hurting your pk record? Maybe I just don't care as much about my record as others.. |

fool proof? anyhow, you already have it in the code to differentiate between pk adrenaline and mob adrenaline, so why not just have a check at death to see which is which? |

A valid argument. Ultimately, the pkstats are for the benefit of the players. I've never seen a game use a formula for k/d that doesn't penalize suicide (mob death). Usually it just adds one to deaths. Sometimes it takes away one kill. I know you guys wouldn't like that second option. I'd be interested to hear what more of you think about it. |

Personally, if you die to a mob at level 50 it's more than just a death on your record, it is a source of shame.
There are some instances where a mob death might be unavoidable (teleport death, you dirt kicked and boss mob happens to breathe right then). In the first case, definitely your own damn fault. In the second case, you knew the risks of fighting a mob like that when you started.
I guess another pk-oriented mob death could result from being summoned to an aggro mob. Let's say you started fighting Mordun, a shaman finds you and keeps summoning you to him until you die. I once killed a healer who was fighting five or six darkhaven outlaws at one time by summoning her to them a couple times.
so there are definitely mob deaths that have pk roots, which should be counted without a doubt. And all the other ones would have to result from being careless which should also go on the record. |

Or you fuckers could just come up with a more original string of code and make it so that the formula counts IF the MOB or PLAYER does most of the damage and then adjust it if it is PK death or MOB death! |

Not everyone is a vet. People die at 50 exploring, or trying to fight a new NPC, or linkdead starvation. Not sure if it all comes down to a "source of shame" |
