Hi Everyone,
I'm new to this mud and trying to get started. I run on a Linux box and I have gMud installed. The issue i'm having is everytime I try to connect the screen flashes up for a moment then disconnects me. Am I missing something? I tried another mud and it works fine.
Cheers,
Mord |

I just built gmud from this source and connected to AR
http://sourceforge.net/p/qtgmud/code/HEAD/tree/
I get no output whatsoever. I'm thinking it's more likely a gmud issue than an AR issue. Gmud is really, really bad and you should probably use a different client. I personally use tintin++ |

Gmud has worked for me in the past, not sure why it wouldn't all of a sudden unless there was a change to AR recently that makes it difficult for that hunk of shit program.
I also do not use GMUD anymore, btw. I used Zmud or Cmud, depending on what computer I am using. |

I tried gmud on windows and connected to the game fine with it, another staff member has installed gmud on linux and seen different behavior (which is a bad sign for linux gmud).
Unless you feel particularly attached to gmud at this point I'd say just chuck it and get tintin++ which is in apt. This behavior isnt observed in tintin. Sorry for your inconvenience with gmud.
sudo aot-get install tintin++ IIRC
gmud doesn't use mxp so that isnt the issue
Let me know how it goes. Maybe we can contact the gmud writer about it |

Alternatively you could probably just "telnet abandonedrealms.com" if you want the really bare bones experience, but tintin is pretty legit for linux. |

To be honest, with the in game alias system Telnet isn't as bad as it used to be. Especially if you don't use triggers/scripts to any large degree. Still, as previously mentioned, it is a very bare bones way to go about things. |

Using the client that's built into the website is a much better option than telnet. |
