There have been a lot of events lately schedules around surges. I don't know about the rest of you, but I struggle with converting the UTC times to my local time zone. I propose we name the surges to help simplify these scheduling difficulties. I tried to get this off the ground with Noliperus before my, uh, sabbatical, but couldn't get it to stick without Imm support. I propose the following names:
Time zones: ( PACIFIC TIME: EASTERN TIME: SERVER (UTC): AU/SYDNEY: )
Surge of the Dragon ( FRI. 20:00-22:00 / FRI. 23:00-01:00 / SAT. 03:00-05:00 / SAT. 17:00-19:00 )
Surge of the Lion ( SUN. 14:00-16:00 / SUN. 17:00-19:00 / SUN. 21:00-23:00 / MON. 09:00-11:00 )
Surge of the Eagle ( TUE. 08:00-10:00 / TUE. 11:00-13:00 / TUE. 15:00-17:00 / WED. 03:00-05:00 )
Surge of the Bat ( THU. 02:00-04:00 / THU. 05:00-07:00 / THU. 09:00-11:00 / THU. 21:00-23:00 )
I think this would greatly simplify people trying to organize things IC without having to resort to clunky oblique references to 'renewals' or 'after 7 storms.' Just 'let us meet during the next Dragon Storm' or 'On the third Surge of the Lion, we shall conquer the Underworld.' Much more straightforward IMO.
What do you guys think? |

I'm not married to the names I suggested, it's just what I came up with in the absence of anything else. If there are some other names you'd prefer I'm fine with that too. I think the important thing is giving each surge a unique name to help differentiate them IC.
Obviously anyone can find tools to do the time zone conversions for them. The bigger point was how to differentiate them IC. |

Make a bunch of injection needles load on the ground during surge like runed blade. So if you inject yourself with the right needle (swine during swine) you get bonus exp gain, but if you mess up and do a bat during cow then you die. |

I couldn't find anything about 'widow tides,' but there is a neap tide.
Another option that occured to me while trying to sleep is the fact that we have four Implementors and four surges. Could name a surge after each Imp. |

tides of blood, tides of death, tides of tides, tides of get in mah belly
xerties i think we picked major cities and widow was because we noticed blackwidow always playing on that one surge, hence its widows surge, although not recently.
tide of blood = friday
widows tide = dead 4am tuesday surge
tide of kings = sunday
thursday is named after thor so we could call it something norse, or just tide of the ancients if nothing else seems worthy of the name. or call that one tide of blood and change friday to tide of discord if everyones cool with the double entendre
so then the surges are
sunday = king's tide
tuesday = widow's tide
thurda = tide of blood
friday = tide of discord |

Code: |
It is 4 o'clock pm, Day of the Alliances, 15th Renewal of the Celestial of Disregard.
The Blood Sea, Dragon Sea, Deep Sea and Bay of Vamana are all in low tide.
The system time is Mon Nov 15 05:01:17 UTC.
Abandoned Realms started up at Mon Mar 31 11:00:39 1997 UTC (last reboot 3 minutes ago)
34h:58m:43s until surge - beginning at Tue Nov 16 16:00:00 UTC

the seas will "surge" to high tides during surges.. the order shown in that list is the order the surges are coming up in. we will need to check in and see if its working each day of the following week. |
