I'm having trouble understanding the relative importance of weapon vs combat type advantages and the thought process you all are engaging in during those quick weapon swaps. I'm intrigued by the possibility that this could be exploited for David to take down Goliath.

Every time he concentrates on his combat style, Kryton is utilizing a skill called CONCENTRATE that fighters get. It helps capitalize on having superior combat style. IE the rock-paper-scissors mechanic that is dual wield > 1H + shield > 2H; 2H > dual wield > 1H + shield

Weapon types also have a similar mechanic. This is seen as overcoming parry attempts and doesnt require a skill to utilize, just weapon type superiority against non-weapon warded opponents and Illithids.

It goes as follows:
Blade > Shaft > Segment; Segment > Blade > Shaft

Here is one example:

Thirath stabs at you with an arrow at point blank range.
You awkwardly parry Thirath's arrow to the ground.
Your charge maims Thirath!
Your weapon advantage overcomes Thirath's parry attempt.

Combat style is important and useful. Actually, I'm guessing this post is probably about fire giants. Something even more important to remember is that, to your point of David vs Goliath, there are some players where gear is so much better that they could probably just spam save and win many of their fights, without using a sanc. Then they have a class/race that might give them a starting 200 hp more than the opponent. Quite a buffer for mistakes, that is, and not to mention the tough skin that gets in the way of all sorts of high ave physical weapons. I wouldn't recommend you're just pinning your hopes on that they suck at combat styles. Even if that were a possibility, they'd still have a large gear advantage, hp advantage, damage reduction advantage. This version of David still needs to be trained like Bruce Lee and armed with all the ice weapons / magic weapons to make sure they are not shut out of doing meaningful damage despite the skill. Otherwise this could easily still become a Game of Thrones mountain vs viper murder scene. The logs will just show the best side of things, based on RNG.
