People who buy legion protection can see who is and is not contracted. Is there any benefit to a person to kill someone contracted? |

Uncaballed characters from Darkhaven may fulfill contracts, they just do not get paid for them, the money from the contract goes to the Legion's coffers.
So, if you are not in Legion, there is no point in fulfilling them, unless you want your name on the board at vinnie's. |

That's weak. There should at least be some sort of benefit to fulfilling contracts, since it's encouraging legion domination by making contracteds worry about everyone who's protected out to get them, as there would be an incentive. Also, Legions cant deal with the 20-30 range which makes protection useless then. |

People who make evils do so because they want more freedom - mainly to pk whoever they want. Whereas joining Legion requires having to collect contracts (i.e. having an obligation) is a turn off to most of its evil applicants. This is kind of why Legion is in such a big perpetual slump -- its because smart evils really don't want the baggage and they don't want a bullseye... nevermind have their pk'ing restricted by people buying themselves protected status. I do not expect a cabal applicant to have to jump through those sort of hoops, because they don't have the powers to help them do it. |

Then why can't we bring legion back to the way they used to be? The protection and contract code may seem cool, but I don't think it really improves the quality of the MUD's experience. |

Legion is like a small-time african dictatorship..a mass-murderer leader with equally sadistic stooges, partaking in contraband, selling arms, making opium deals, and maybe a bit of human trafficking on the side. The mafia-protection element fits in rather well with that, and I think it improves the quality of the mud experience, since otherwise they would just assrape and ransack everyone. The downsides of protection are not that severe, though. |
