valox kills a lot of people below 50 so I assume its the pk penalty, pretty much his bread and butter |

I keep noticing that the pk count is incorrect, and was wondering if anybody else noticed it at well. For July, I know I had atleast 7 kills. Juax 1, Jindo 2, and Fharino 4. Two kills were penalty kills against fharino due to him being rank 44. The other kills were not multi-kills, or penalty kills. Pk stats for May, I had a little over 20 kills I believe, but only 11 show up. 5, maybe 6 were penalty kills, mostly on Knights below rank 45. No multi-kills were involved unless the opponent unghosted, atacked me and died.
Could the pk stat info not be counting kills where my pet got the last hit? |

It's counting correctly, you're just being penalized. |

If you kill anyone more then 5 levels below you it takes away from your killcount instead of adding to it. |

Are you sure about that? I thought it simply didn't give you any kill in that case |

I'm a little confused myself. What exactly determines a penalty kill? From my understanding at pinnacle, it was killing anybody that was below 45, and multi-kills. Most of last months kills were "no strings" attached type of kills. Just normal fights, no killing after sombody unghosted, most of the kills were against 50's, etc... So what is making them count as penalty kills? |

I know Davairus said something on the forums here about the rating system being a modified version of ELO (the standard used for chess ratings).
I'll cut out all the crap about how it works, aside from one factor: If someone who is extremely high-rated beats someone who is extremely low rated, the person at the top is penalized even though they won, and the person who is low actually gains points (in ELO).
The idea I'm getting from this is that Valox has a high enough rating that killing people with significantly lower ratings (and everyone's below him, so I don't know who counts as this) penalizes him. Presumably this penalty simply means a kill doesn't count, but I don't know those mechanics. And it might have to do with levels. |

Rating has nothing to do with records. |

No that isnt how our ratings work, you can't lose points for beating people rated much lower than you. You simply don't stand to gain very much, and they don't stand to lose very much. While on the other hand losing to someone much lower than you will lead to you losing a lot of points (and them gaining a lot of points). I think we might have cases where there are no changes in rating because of a large difference, but you won't lose rating.
In any case the system got messed up by the attempt to include gangbanging-ratings (which obviously should have just been a separate statistic) |
