Was thinking randomly today, and thought that having racial equipment provide minute bonuses for said race would be pretty interesting and spice things up. IE Dwarven plate mail worn by a dwarf might add 1 strength, or 10 ac on top of normal stats. An illithid wears mind flayer robe, gets +15 hp, things like that. Of course, those are just some random numbers thrown out there, and the bonuses could be even smaller than that. Just trying to think of something that would help spread out the use of equipment that we have in Serin instead of 90% of it being not utilized as it is crappy eq compared to other items in the game. |

To that end, I think it would be interesting if certain classes got bonuses/penalties as well. I know we already have coded skill/restriction implementations where certain classes CAN'T use certain equipment, but it would be interesting to see slight buffs/negs for specific pieces of armor based on class too.
A warrior would be more apt to properly wear and use heavy plate armor than a healer or mage would, for example, and a rogue or mage would have more knowledge of how to properly wear leather/robes/etc. than a berzerker.
I suppose an easier way to look at it would be maybe "armor classification proficiency" (not to be confused with armor class), where each class gets +/- for various types of armor. But that seems like a helluva lot of pain in the ass code...
So yeah, racial bonuses are good too... |
