Didn't this same thing happen yesterday? Can we blame this on wolfpaw also? |

I was contimplating anothers life... decided, finally, to slay them and when I tried to open with a dirt kick... nuthin!!! Maybe saved my life, but more than likely just cost me some nice things. Damn WOLFPAW!!!
Saegen's sting(haha, spider blade) ***OBLITERATES*** Wolfpaw.
Wolfpaw hits the ground... DEAD!!!
Saegen says "How do you like that!!!!"
Saegen gets the coding book from the corpse of Wolfpaw.
Saegen drops the coding book with a grimace.
Saegen says "too hard for my little mind." |

Within the past few weeks i've had this:
Connected to host abandonedrealms.wolfpaw.net
But, after that, it just stays there until i'm timed out. It's doing it again now.... Is the MUD down, or is it just me? |

Basically, something is putting the command into an infinite loop. Here is an example of an infinite loop in BASIC.
Code: |
10 print whats up
20 goto 10 |
Its not quite so simple in C, but this is the idea - something like this gets tripped, and then the program stops responding because this infinite loop is keeping the system busy. You can't connect, you can't move, I can't do any diagnostics because the mud isnt respondable.
The only way I know how to fix an infinite loop style bug, is to find the root cause, that means we will have to work together. If the MUD is totally empty, it will run for days without trouble, but today the mud frozen twice. I think its pretty obvious its gotta be tripped by a player. Therefore, I need you to be concientious of what you're doing, and give me feedback.
Answers to questions like this may help..
Q What was the last thing you tried to do? e.g. tried collecting a task. lots of commands fire complicated loops
Q What were the condtions? e.g. you had sanc up, mobs tracking you, sleeping , things like that
There could be several of them. |

It has to be limited to something changed within the past few weeks. Such as that gambling dice game, maybe weapon ward changes, or something like that |
