I know the in reference to save breaks that there is no point in wear 2 items that are both save break vs mental because only the higher one will be used (or count). Is that the same for dependency? Does a high dependency spell just need one piece of equipment that is like -15 save break vs mental or does the caster need multiple pieces of save break vs mental to fulfill that high dependency requirement? I am not real sure and the help files arent too specific about it.

ex: If I am playing a necro now with the new changes and I still wanted to run around and acid blast people would I have to equip my necro in a full suit of save break vs mal. eq? or pally with dispel evil/flamestrike or illusionist with colour spray or dk with vamp touch or.......

Dependency applies your existing savebreak value in the appropriate save type to the spell being cast. Savebreaks are not stackable, so neither is the dependency derived from savebreaks.

By the way, acid blast is an afflictive spell, which means you'll need afflictive break for acid blast's dependency. Vamp touch uses maledictive savebreak but to bolster healing efficiency, not for damage.

So from a dependency, as well as a save break, stand point it is pointless to wear multiple pieces of the same save break equipment. So we just need to wear the best possible piece of save break mal, mental, or aff depending on the class we are playing or the spell we are using.

pally - aff (flamestrike, dispel)
necro - mal (for their mals savebreak only not dependency)
illusion - mental (for thier mental spells only not dependency)
shaman - aff (causes)
healer - aff (dispel, divine)
dark-knight - mal (healing from vamp. touch)
illusionist and necromances - aff (colour spray, acid blast)

Yes. Savebreaks would be too powerful if they could be stacked.

Or a combination of them if you plan to cast different spell types, yes, although since you can only cast one spell at once you can also feasibly switch out breaks in battle before you cast the appropriate spell, similar to how fighter-types switch out weapon types and combat styles. I've noticed more wily casters such as Taere doing exactly this with their breaks.

By the way, only certain shaman affs (such as flay health) have affbreak dependencies or even actual aff saves. There is no save reduction for the damage from the shaman cause/harm spells. When I get a chance, I'll update the spell type entry in the cause/help helpfiles to make this distinction more clear (although it's spelled out in the actual helpfile body text).
